Distinguished by its skull-shaped markings and the remarkable capacity to produce sharp chirping sounds—an evolutionary adaptation of structures originally designed for nectar feeding—this moth has long fascinated researchers and creatives. Its appearance has inspired centuries of superstition, functioning as nature's own memento mori.
The species gained further prominence through its appearances in canonical works of art and literature, including Poe's explorations of the uncanny and its role in modern cinema in films such Un Chien Andelou by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí and of course, as the star of the iconic theater poster Silence of the Lambs.

Protecting Your Jewelry
Avoid wearing your jewelry while swimming in chlorinated or salt water, or when using common household cleaners, as these may damage the metals. If exposure occurs, simply rinse gently with mild soap and a soft toothbrush in warm water (even a quick rinse in the shower should suffice), then dry with a lint-free soft cloth.
HOW TO PUT ON YOUR CUFF BRACELET
Locate the narrowest area of your forearm just below the wrist, using your thumb to reveal the radius bone. Insert the cuff's opening between the radius and ulna bones, gently maneuvering it over the tendons. After passing the ulna bone, pivot the cuff to lay flat on your wrist.
This method works for both putting on and taking off the cuff, preserving its shape and preventing metal fatigue.
SHAPING YOUR CUFF TO YOUR WRIST
Gogo Jewelry cuffs are flexible but care should be taken to not squeeze sides until a bend occurs in the metal. Gently applying equal pressure to the cuff when it is ON YOUR WRIST with your whole hand over the cuff should help shape it to your wrist size. Once you have it to where it sits comfortably you should not have to re-shape it again. Just follow the steps above to take on and off.
Anodized aluminum refers to the colorful layers of most Gogo Jewelry pieces. Some jewelry pieces are sterling silver without anodized aluminum, generally earrings and necklaces. If you are unsure about the components of your piece, please ask us.
CLEANING YOUR JEWELRY:
For a quick clean on any piece, a dry soft toothbrush works great for dusting off and getting into cutouts.
Our sterling silver and brass pieces are solid metal (not plated or coated with anything), so they will tarnish over time. Oxygen is a major culprit in that process, as well as chemicals such as chlorine, salt water or cleaning products.
We encourage you to either wear your jewelry often (this surprisingly keeps tarnish away!) or store it in a sealed bag such as a zip lock or one of our velvet pouches when not in use. Make sure to dry it off before storing.
Sterling Silver + Anodized Aluminum Pieces
We have found that Weiman Silver Wipes work incredibly well for quick and easy cleaning up sterling. Simply wipe the jewelry down with the cloth and then rinse in water using a soft toothbrush to remove the cleaner from the metals.
Dry with soft cloth - you can always touch up any lint remnants on your jewelry with a dry soft toothbrush.
We also love using this TOWN TALK Silver Dip for delicate pieces such as necklaces and earrings with earwires. Please note: only use with silver, no mixed metals or gemstones.
Directions:
1. Submerge the jewelry in the cleaning solution.
2. Buff with the cleaning brush and polishing cloth provided.
3. Place your silver item in the cleaning fluid for 2 minutes. Use the brush provided to gently clean hard-to-reach areas.
4. Once clean, rinse the silver in water then dry with a soft cloth.
5. Polish with the Silver Polishing Cloth provided for anti-tarnish protection.
Brass + Anodized Aluminum Pieces
If your brass starts to tarnish, use BRASSO — its gentle abrasiveness restores that brushed look. Avoid scrubbing the anodized aluminum beneath the brass. After cleaning, rinse with warm water and a soft toothbrush.
REPAIRS & RESTORATION
We have successfully restored cuffs that have been squished, crushed and mushed and brought them back to their original splendor! There will be a minimal charge for the repair. Email us photographs of the damaged piece at gogo@ilovegogojewelry.com and we can provide you with an estimate.
